Blockbuster Toronto Blue Jays Trade with Marlins-12 Players Involved
We are awaiting the official word...but that is a formality...as Major League Baseball's Toronto Blue Jays...in the American League East division...dramatically improved their team for the upcoming 2013 season by acquiring 6 bona-fide major league players from the Miami Marlins in exchange for a combination of major league and minor league prospect players heading to South Florida.
The Jays will receive starting pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle, along with former all star shortstop Jose Reyes, catcher John Buck (who played for the Jays for a single season previously), and infielder/outfielder Emilio Bonifacio--who steals a lot of bases!
The Jays send to Miami young starting pitcher Henderson Alvarez, minor league pitching prospects Anthony DeSclafani and Justin Nicolino, minor league outfielder Jake Marisnick, and current roster infielders Yunel Escobar, who had a controversial end to his 2012 season, backup catcher Jeff Mathis and Adeiny Hechavarria, a minor league prospect who may have had some time with the Jays during 2012!
The excitement in Toronto is high now...with what this deal potentially does to improve the team's playoff prospects for 2013. Team owners, Rogers Communications, hope to sell a lot more season's tickets!
Apparently, the wheeling and dealing isn't done yet for the Jays. And they are still looking for a manager. Stay tuned!
