He successfully beat prostate cancer a number of years ago, however Dailey announced in September that cancer had spread to his kidneys. He underwent surgery in October, but the disease spread to his lungs and the rest of his body.He joined Citytv's CityPulse News in 1979, helmed the crime beat for more than 10 years and was Citytv Tonight's news anchor for nearly a decade. The CityPulse name eventually was changed to CityNews.
He was also the Toronto station's announcer/voiceover expert for both the local station and all Citytv stations across the country...with his distinctive booming voice letting viewers know that Citytv was "everywhere!" He always added a touch of humour to his voice over duties.
