So there are 4 teams left...are they the teams you expected to be the final four?
The Eastern Conference final is all tied up now at 1-1. These first 2 games were both played in Boston and I think that it was predictable that both of these teams head to Tampa Bay with a series split!
The Tampa Bay Lightning were definitely the stronger team back in Game 1 this past Saturday. The Boston Bruins turned on the jets last night with a barrage of scoring including 2 from #2 overall rookie draft pick this season, Tyler Seguin (who should have been a Maple Leaf).
Later tonight, the Vancouver Canucks once again host the San Jose Sharks in Game 2 of the Western Conference final series. The Canucks lead 1-0 and the series heads back to San Jose for Game 3.
Is this the year for the Sharks. It might be the last year their big 3 remain intact...Thornton, Marleau and Heatly...on paper a potent line...but history has shown that they disappear come playoff time...and even with all the young guns on the roster, it will be these guys that get San Jose to the Stanley Cup Finals.
It appears Vancouver has the right pieces from scoring to defense to aggressive play right through to goaltending. They gave their fans a scare early almost being knocked out by the Blackhawks in the first round after having a 3-0 lead. But since then, they have seemed to find there footing and are proving they are worthy of being part of the top 4 teams remaining in these playoffs!
As May becomes June and we find out who are the two teams fighting for Lord Stanley's cup this season, we've still got lots of exciting hockey to look forward to!
