If you grew up in Toronto or have lived in the city in the last 50 years, check out the amazing photos found on the Vintage Toronto Facebook Page:
http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Vintage-Toronto/256041347799190
Lots of pictures being added daily...many City of Toronto Archival photos, photos from the guy who started the page's own personal collections, many "before & after" shots of areas of the city showing what used to stand at your favourite intersection, etc. Inspired by the similar Facebook page--Vintage Los Angeles
If you like what you see, you can add your own photos or comment on what is there...you can also start to get the feed if you "like" the page on Facebook!
I was amazed by some of the photos he has up so far...the before and after ones are really cool...especially when I can remember some of the previous buildings, stores, attractions, etc. that used to stand where the picture was taken but are now long gone
Here are a couple of photos from the page....go check it out for yourself--Vintage Toronto!
This is now a Food Basics at Newtonbrook Plaza at Yonge & Cummer
I don't think your local No Frills resembles this scene!
Long before Harold The Jewellery Buyer at Bathurst & Glencairn---the Loblaws is actually a Shoppers Drug Mart now!
These buildings are now where the Eaton Centre stands---the parking garage at Yonge & Shuter!
