Still Time Bruce Springsteen Fans...and Other Stuff

Other stuff going on so far this week include the sad end to the one time promising career of singer Amy Winehouse, who was found dead in her London home back on Saturday (July 23).



The Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball's American League (AL) have now lost their last 16 games into a row going into tonight's action (July 26).  For sure it is the team's longest losing streak ever in their 34 year existance...the AL record for consecutive losses belongs to the Baltimore Orioles, who lost 21 in a row back in 1988...the modern day Major League baseball record for futility is 23 games in a row, set by the 1961 Philadelphia Phillies!



Some interesting summer TV so far on HBO...of the three shows I watched regularly that are into brand new original seasons now...I am really enjoying True Blood...cannot watch Curb Your Enthusiasm anymore and still not sure about the final season of Entourage, which started this past Sunday...I have invested time into the other seasons of this show...last season was a dissapointment...but I think I'll give this season a try!

For A Saturday Night...

Please join me in remembering YET ANOTHER great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Dough Boy died yesterday of a yeast infection and traumatic complications from repeated pokes to the belly. He was 71. Dough Boy is survived by his wife Play Dough, three children, John Dough, Jane Dough, and Dill Dough, plus they had one in the Oven. Services were held at 3:50 for about 20 minute.

This is the spot you can enter your answers for the big DJ Whitney Springsteen Summer Song Challenge and listen to the 40-second clip as many times as you like

Here's how the challenge works:  DJ Whitney put together a 40 second clip that features 10 well known Bruce Springsteen songs.  All you have to do is identify each of the 10 songs in the clip, in the order they were played and you will have successfully achieved the DJ Whitney Springsteen Summer Song Challenge!

Simply leave your list, with the 10 song titles of the songs you believe are heard in the clip, in order in the Comments section of this blog entry  You must proved the full song titles of each of the songs.

Hi all...been busy with work and my new iPad 2 which arrived yesterday (July 11)...I had an iPod Touch before but this blows it out of the water!

Trying to get my music back on now...also tons and tons of apps to discover and get on there...so not a lot of time this week to blog.  If you read this and have any iPad 2 suggestions...please feel free to leave them for me via the Comment link!

It's 4-1 National League in the All Star Game now in the top of the 7th...Toronto's mayor wants to eliminate almost all his city worker's jobs...the guy who created The Brady Bunch & Gilligan's Island died today...yes I am keeping up with the news!

Man Falls to Death Trying to Retrieve a Foul Ball at Texas Rangers Game

The video footage below was taken from the Oakland A's coverage of a live baseball game in Arlington, Texas between the Texas Rangers and the A's last night (July 7, 2011).

The announcers were aware that a man in the outfield stands fell down into the bullpen area while trying to retrieve a foul ball thrown up to him by Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton.  What they were not aware of is how serious a situation this turned out to be. They continued on, as you will hear and see in this video as if nothing serious had occurred.  And so did the game!

The man was actually talking when paramedics reached him after the tumble where apparently he landed head first.  Sometime later, the man did die of his injuries.  Very tragic and weird, especially since it appeared that the injury was not something life threatening.

James Spader Joins The Cast of The Office

NBC has signed James Spader as a full-time cast member of The Office. Spader's last TV series was the ABC/David Kelley legal drama Boston Legal.


NBC announced Wednesday that Spader will replay his guest role from the last episode of the past season as salesman Robert California when The Office returns this fall.

The plot will have Spader's character, California being hired over the summer as the new manager of the Scranton office of Dunder Mifflin paper company, but within hours, earning a promotion to CEO of Sabre, the parent corporation of Dunder Mifflin.

This leaves the Scranton branch manager's position vacant again. NBC is still searching for an actor to replace departed series star Steve Carell, who played Michael Scott since the series premiered
