NFL First Round Playoff Matches are Set!

It was a long Sunday yesterday as well as a long regular NFL season in 2010 for DJ Joe D!

I was in a couple of football fantasy pools this season once again, trying to defend the championships won last season in both.  Not even close in either...oh well!  Made the playoffs in the "Family" fantasy league...but left in the dust in the Pick 'em league.  DJ Whitney did well in the Pick 'em league...coming in tied for second...Congrats!

Regardless of whether or not you were in a NFL fantasy league pool this season or just a NFL fan, the first round of this season's NFL Playoffs are set for next week; 2 games next Saturday--January 8 & 2 games on January 9!

The Saturday AFC Conference matchup has the wildcard New York Jets playing against the AFC South Division Winner, the Indianapolis Colts; on Sunday, the other first round AFC matchup has the AFC West Division Winner, the Kansas City Chiefs meeting up with the other AFC wildcard team, the Baltimore Ravens.

The NFC matchups next week look like this: on Saturday, the defending Super Bowl Champs, the New Orleans Saints are the wildcard opponent vs. the NFC West Division Champs, the Seattle Seahawks, who actually won that division with a losing regular season record (7-9)

The Sunday NFC conference playoff game matches the NFC East champs, the Philadelphia Eagles with the other NFC wildcard team, the Green Bay Packers.

The following weekend (January 15 & January 16th) the Divisional Playoffs will take place, where the 2 top seeded teams in each conference take on the winners of this weekend's games depending on the results of the Wild Card games and based on how these teams finished the regular season (Wild Card or Conference Winner team).

In the AFC, the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers are the two top seeded teams who get a bye this week; The NFC teams are Chicago Bears and the Atlanta Falcons.  All these teams have home field next weekend.

Sunday January 23 is the day both conference final games are played; the winners of those games meet up on February 6 in the Superbowl in Dallas.

Got all that?  I will keep you all posted as to progress and results throughout the NFL Playoffs.  You can listen to the DJ Joe D Show over the next few Sundays as Jonah will have much to say about the matchups during his NFL Minute.

Remember, starting this Sunday, January 9, 2011, listen to the DJ Joe D Show on it's new home, The Glow Radio (http://www.theglowradio.com/)
