Winnipeg Officially Back in the NHL!

So it is now official...pending Board of Governors approval which is a formality.  The Atlanta Thrashers no longer exist...they are now based out of friendly Winnipeg, Manitoba

Winnipeg has NHL hockey once again...team has no name yet...season tickets go on sale next Saturday, June 4...prices look decent...$129 for most expensive ticket...$39 for cheapest!

The team will stay in the Eastern Conference's Southeast Division for the upcoming season which means lots of travel...because their division rivals are Carolina, Washington, Florida and Tampa Bay!  They will be the only team this season in the East not in the Eastern timezone!

MTS Centre in Winnipeg is a small rink and not ideal for expanding.  You'll hear "The Drive for 13,000" a lot over the next little while...basically the season ticket base they will need to survive!

Gary Bettman, Commissioner of the NHL, didn't look very happy today making the announcement.  His tone when delivering the news was like..."you had a team once before...you got a second chance...don't &*^% it up again!"

So lets see if this is a permanent thing or just an experiment.  I think it's up to the fans in Winnipeg to support this team because in today's NHL, what's here today can quickly be gone tomorrow!
